Restore Desert Rivers, Release Beavers, and Cool Our Cities

$50,000 matching gift will double your donation!

WMG's dedicated community has been advocating for beaver reintroduction in Cienega Creek since 2019. Thanks to your tireless efforts, the Bureau of Land Management and AZ Game and Fish plan to reintroduce beavers by the end of 2025. This is a monumental step towards restoring our desert rivers and riparian forests.

As seen in this stunning video of our trek into the Cienega Creek backcountry, the wetlands are primed for beaver reintroduction. These industrious animals will build dams that expand wetlands, recharge water, and help the riparian forest flourish—a crucial development in the face of a hotter and drier Southwest.

Will you help us raise the final $36,000 of our $125,000 spring goal to fund our Release the Beavers campaign and other initiatives to cool our cities? Our matching donor increased their match to $50,000 to help us reach our target!

Your donation will support our Release the Beavers campaign, native tree plantings, and partnerships to create climate-positive savings accounts.

Here's how you can get involved:

  1. Make a gift to our spring campaign to cool our cities 5 degrees. Your gift will be matched!

  2. Join our River Run Network and attend Tanque Verde Flow and Feast on May 4th, celebrating our efforts to restore desert rivers.

  3. Set up a climate-positive savings account with Atmos and double your savings rate by setting up a monthly gift to WMG.

  4. Become a Certified Water Harvesting Practitioner through our upcoming Water Harvesting Certifications.

  5. Leave a legacy for Mother Earth by setting up a free will online and making a designation to WMG or another charity.

  6. Plant native trees and rain gardens. Sign up for a WMG workshop to learn about native plants and water harvesting strategies.

Together, we can create a future where our desert rivers flow freely, riparian forests thrive, and our cities are cooler and more sustainable.

Thank you for your unwavering support and dedication to restoring our precious desert ecosystems. Every action counts, and together, we can make a lasting difference.
