Time to Cool Our Cities & Go Hydro-Local
Watershed Management Group has been harvesting water in the Valley of the Sun for 5 years! We're celebrating by counting down to the new year with success stories from each of the past 5 years (6 counting this one), and launching a "5 for 5" campaign to raise $5,000 from Phoenix donors! We need your support to expand our "Hydrate" series, grow our Co-op program, and continue to develop exceptional Phoenix programming.
For Arizona Gives Day 2015, Watershed Management Group (WMG) unveiled our Restore Sabino Creek campaign and called on our supporters to help us raise $50,000. Restoring this verdant gem in the Sonoran Desert was so compelling that we raised more than $44,000. This upwelling of support took WMG to the top in the competition for Most Dollars Raised (mid-size nonprofits), adding an additional $15,000 in prize money from the Alliance of Arizona Nonprofits—taking us $9,000 beyond our goal!
We hope you love WMG’s annual Top Ten list as much as we do. It gives us a chance to let down our hair and enjoy the past year of accomplishments—all possible thanks to you. Please consider making a gift today to help us reach our stretch goal and raise $10,000 on the last day of the year!
With 2016 right around the corner, I’d like to give you a sneak peek into the bold initiatives we are launching through our 50 Year Program. And you’re invited to make a gift today and be an early investor to fund our most audacious work to restore flow to Tucson’s springs, creeks, and rivers.
La, La, Laaa. We’ve been warming up our vocal chords here at WMG. And in the spirit of the holidays, we’re about to come a caroling. We have miraculously transformed the 12 Days of Christmas into the 12 Gifts of Harvest. Take a break and sing along!
Thanks to our dedicated supporters, WMG met our challenge match of $8,250, provided by board members and major donors—and more! In all, WMG raised $20,270 for Giving Tuesday.
These funds support many great programs at WMG, including:
One of the ways we most enjoy water is with a refreshing drink. Did you know it takes 34 gallons to make a glass of apple juice, 17 gallons for a glass of wine, and 31 gallons to make a pint of beer? And the simple water you drink from the tap—do you know where it comes from? Many of our water supplies comes from over-allocated watersheds and limited groundwater supplies. It’s time to turn the tap to a new source, one that is local and renewable.
After giving thanks with family and friends on Thanksgiving, we invite you to join us in giving back on Giving Tuesday. Gratitude comes easy for us at Watershed Management Group because of the extraordinary things you do to make our work possible.
We’ve accomplished some incredible things together over the past year: hundreds of on-the-ground changes, thousands of people engaged through our classes and events, and new programs launched in Phoenix and Mexico. None of this would be possible without you—our supporters—so we’d like to extend a heartfelt thanks for being a part of our work!
