River Run Network Restoration Workshop: Tanque Verde Plant Survey - Apr 28

Join WMG Staff in the Tanque Verde Creek to conduct plant surveys! As part of our Arundo removal efforts, we want to better understand how these areas will change over time. To do this, we will be collecting plant data from many areas along the creek using a method called plant transects. You'll be accompanied by WMG staff to help you learn and use this method in the field, so no experience necessary! This is a great opportunity to use plant identification skills or learn all about the riparian plants in the desert. Whether you'll be learning these things as you go, or practicing an old habit, you'll be helping to collect data that we will use for many years to track the changes and health of the Tanque Verde Creek. For this workshop, you'll be walking through sandy and possibly wet soils carrying light equitment and paper surveys throughout the Tanque Verde Creek.

This event is organized through WMG’s River Run Network (RRN). The RRN is a program that honors the heritage of our rivers and the value that water holds for the peoples of Southern Arizona. We acknowledge the indigenous communities that have respected and stewarded our rivers for thousands of years and the Pascua Yaqui, Tohono O’odham, and Latino communities that continue to steward the rivers today. Members work together to learn about and steward our rivers through creek walks, restoration activities, river clean-ups, and educational workshops. If you are not yet a member, we will add you to the RRN when you register for this event. Membership is free and includes a regular e-newsletter with upcoming events.
