Join WMG and our HOA partners for a peaceful sunset walk along Tanque Verde Creek in The Lakes at Castle Rock community. This riparian corridor is a vital passage for terrestrial and avian wildlife, connecting natural habitats through human-inhabited landscapes.
We’re partnering with Pima County and the HOA on an exciting project to improve infiltration into a previously built drainage system—helping restore the natural flow of water. During our walk, we’ll visit the project site and present the plan, then meander upstream, taking in the beauty of the creek and watching the sun set over the lakes. As dusk settles and wildlife begins to stir, we’ll walk back and experience twilight in the Tanque Verde Creek.
Come enjoy the magic of twilight, learn about our restoration efforts, and experience the creek as day fades into night. We look forward to seeing you there!
Please bring a flashlight or headlamp (with a red lens or piece of red cellophane taped over the lens preferred to help us keep our night vision) for use on the walk back. You may also want a layer for warmth and a water bottle.
You are welcome to bring a journal, writing utensils, colored pencils etc to write or draw in while we watch the sunset.
WMG encourages carpooling, as the parking area is small. A WMG vehicle with four spaces available will be leaving the Living Lab at 4:45pm.
