Weeding and native plant resources

General Plant Management Guidance

Pull annuals when:

  • Next to a sidewalk/hardscape or in cracks in hardscape
  • Crowding out vegetation that we have planted
  • Growing in walking paths
  • They’re non-native or invasive, particularly Buffelgrass and Bermuda Grass
  • Trees sprouts in water harvesting basins – these are easy to pull when small

Leave annuals when:

  • Showier wildflowers like penstemon, marigold, poppies, globemalllow
  • Native grasses in or near basins and landscaped areas

Plants that are pulled should be torn apart and thrown in basins, unless:

  • They are invasive/non-native and have set seed
