Build a Beaver Dam with Carmen & Beto: A Bilingual Family Event

Registration is closed for this event

Join Beto the Beaver & Carmen la Castora to learn all about how they build their dams! These family-friendly bilingual beavers will teach you how beavers are nature’s engineers. Learn how they use trees, rocks, mud and more to build dams in our creeks and rivers that support a greater diversity of plants and animals. Big or small, dams create ponds where beavers eat, live, and grow their families. They’re also an important tool humans can use to restore our rivers and recharge groundwater. Beto and Carmen will show you how to think like a beaver and build your own dam - right in your backyard! Along with Beto and Carmen, this family activity will be led by WMG staff including Joaquin Murrieta, WMG Cultural Ecologist and Lauren Monheim, WMG River Run Network Coordinator. You will receive a zoom link and instructions when you register for the event. This event is part of a series of family events organized through the River Run Network. If you are not yet a member, we will add you to the Network when you register for this event. RRN membership is free and gives you access to a variety of virtual, dispersed, and physically distanced events including creek walks, restoration activities, river clean-ups, and educational workshops.
