Living Lab
Living Lab & Learning Center Tour
WMG’s Living Lab and Learning Center is our premier demonstration site for various water harvesting strategies and sustainable living practices for arid landscape living. We have rainwater on tap and meet almost 100% of our water needs with rainwater, greywater, and stormwater.
Bring the kids to enjoy the Raindrop Retreat – a children’s playhouse featuring a rain tank, play kitchen with greywater, and sandbox.
The tour takes place outside, so be prepared to be standing and/or walking for over an hour and in all weather.
Pruning Native Desert Trees Workshop
Learn how to prune native Sonoran Desert trees for healthy growth!
This will include walking around WMG's Living Lab to explore the principles with actual trees and observe both healthy structures and problem growth. Participants can expect to walk away with a good understanding of how to care for their own trees. Native trees are meant to be here lets help them thrive so they can cool Tucson, sequester carbon, infiltrate rainwater, build healthy soil, and clean the air!

How Low Can You Go?
The average Tucsonan uses 80 gallons of water per day from the Central Arizona Project that transports water a long distance from the Colorado River. Join us at the Living Lab, our demonstration site, for this fun activity exploring the sytems we have in place to reduce our dependency on distant watersheds and that make it possible for us to exist on rainwater, stormwater, and greywater most of the time. You will also have the opportunity to think about what you might do in your own home, neighborhood, and work place.
