Schedule a Field Trip to the Living Lab

Fieldtrip Information - Visit our Living Lab and Learning Center

At Watershed Management Group, we believe that every child has the power to create positive change in their community and environment. Our interactive field trips inspire students to explore the connections between water, land, and life—empowering them to be part of the solution to today’s environmental challenges. We invite schools across Southern Arizona to experience our Living Lab—a demonstration site showcasing hydro-local living and watershed resilience.

Through hands-on activities, students experience the power of hope as they see how small actions can make a big difference. They’ll gain a deeper understanding of inter-connection, learning how people, plants, animals, and water systems depend on each other to thrive. And most importantly, our programs are solutions-oriented. Students don’t just learn about environmental challenges, they discover real, practical ways to take action, and bring those actions home to their families.

Join us for a field trip that will spark curiosity, foster collaboration, and leave students feeling inspired to make a difference in their world!

Field Trip Highlights

During your visit, students will participate in "How Low Can You Go?"—a hands-on activity highlighting diverse water conservation techniques relevant in the Sonoran Desert that support climate resilience and river restoration. This program, suitable for elementary to high school students, lasts between 90 to 120 minutes.

Our campus features:

  • Rain garden demonstrations
  • A native food forest
  • A 10,000-gallon underground cistern
  • Art exhibits detailing Tucson’s history of flowing creeks and rivers
  • A children's play area
  • Composting toilets

Field trips include both indoor and outdoor activities. Please ensure students are prepared for varying weather conditions by bringing hats, appropriate clothing, and water bottles.
