3 Days for 25K – Support K-12 & Family Programs!

In the next three days, we need your help to raise $25,000 and reach our $85,000 summer goal. Will you make a gift today to support WMG’s education and conservation programs? Donations are essential to many WMG programs, including our K-12 student and family programs, and all donations will be doubled through a donor match.

Since April, we’ve been focusing our Steward In Place virtual and dispersed initiatives for our adult-centered programs. This fall, we’re ramping up our efforts to engage K-12 students and families by providing parents and teachers with virtual tools and home-based learning activities to empower youth to learn about nature and participate in conservation.

Here are a few of our recent initiatives to benefit K-12 students and families:

  • Launching family activities through the River Run Network. You can register for our upcoming Build Your Own Basin: a bilingual family event.
  • Providing simple hand-washing stations, tippy taps, for free to schools to help with sanitation as kids come back to campus.
  • Creating a new series of family-friendly, bilingual YouTube videos, focused on river restoration in the borderlands, with our beaver characters Beto and Carmen. New videos will be released throughout the fall.

And check this out: WMG’s has created a take-home Build Your Own Basin kit! Since we can’t work with students on campus, we’ve adapted our rain garden activities for their homes. Our new education model includes a virtual classroom activity; a how-to YouTube video (check it out - click the photo); and then a take-home kit for students to build a rain garden in their backyard or neighborhood, including native trees, shrubs, wildflowers, and mulch. This program is offered to schools we’re partnering with through our Recharge the Rain program, but, with your help, we can expand to more schools this winter.

If you want to ensure WMG’s programs and resources can reach more families and youth, please support WMG with a donation to our summer campaign.
