During this time of COVID-19, people across the U.S. and the globe are sheltering in place. Imagine if during these months we all "steward in place" and make changes at home and in our neighborhood that have a positive impact on our planet. Researchers found it takes an average of 66 days for people to form a new habit (Lally, Van Jaarsveld, Potts, & Wardle, 2010). With many of us at home, with more time on our hands, we have fertile ground for forming new habits. What you do in your yard and neighborhood impacts your local creek, river, lake, or ocean. So let’s use that power for good and enhance our watersheds together.
We're providing educational and how-to videos to support you as you work through your conservation bucket list. Challenge yourself to do projects - we have some how-to with resources you have at home. We’re all flushing water down the drain, creating food and yard waste, and putting lots of stuff in the trash. So let’s turn that waste into resources and create compost, mulch, greywater for irrigation, yard art, and new planters. No trips to the store needed!
Let’s take this opportunity to do something good and form new habitats that benefit our local environment, this spring, and for many years to come.
