“You do it the WMG way, you do it the right way,” Martha Retallick said, standing near a flourishing pomegranate tree nurtured by greywater from her laundry system.
Martha has been involved with WMG since 2007 when she volunteered for the first time at a water harvesting project at the Ward 3 Tucson City Council office. Through learning about rainwater harvesting with WMG, she has since transformed her yard into an urban oasis that serves as a demonstration of desert living, often featured in her photography and writing.
Martha has been giving as a monthly donor since 2017, to pay it forward and support water harvesting in the community. Monthly donors provide stable revenue for our programs, especially important to weather changes in grant revenue.
One of our donors has stepped up to match ALL donations this final week of our spring campaign to help us hit our $200,000 goal! Will you pay it foward with a special gift or new monthly donation that will be matched today?
WMG has helped hundreds of people transform their yards through our hands-on education and community workshops. We recently completed a rainwater harvesting project at Literacy Connects, not far from Martha’s home. The rain garden will nurture native shade trees and shrubs to cool their event space for underserved youth and families.
We are very close to hitting our fundraising goal, and your one-time donation or monthly gift will ensure that we are able to continue providing opportunities for people to transform their outdoor space to cool our cities.
