Join our Steward In Place Earth Day event! You can improve local wildlife habitat and reduce the spread of invasives into our green spaces by removing invasive plant species in your backyard, neighborhood street, or green space. WMG's Restoration Director, Trevor Hare, will give you the scoop on some common invasive plants that you can help remove, like buffelgrass, stinknet, and arundo. In addition, he will point out some common native annuals that should be left in our yards to increase biodiversity. As individuals, when we remove invasive plants from our yards and streets, we reduce the chance of these plants spreading into our riparian areas and other green spaces.
When you register for this event, you will receive a link to attend a lunchtime virtual workshop with Trevor as well as additional resources on native and invasive plants. After the virtual workshop, get out in your yard or along your neighborhood street to identify and remove invasives. And then tell us how it went!
Post a picture of the invasives you removed on your social media using #StewardInPlace, #RiverRunNetwork, and #WMG and you will be entered into a raffle to win River Run Network swag and other cool prizes!
