Native
Perhaps the best tree for yard-scapes in the Tucson and Phoenix area. Extremely drought and heat tolerant, this tree will continue to thrive in tough conditions. It is also beautiful and can be kept ascending in narrower spaces compared to other Sonoran Desert Trees. It flowers in the late fall/early summer and puts out pods with edible beans shortly thereafter.
Ironwoods can grow quite large in many growing conditions. They are consistent growers and can grow at moderate speeds in good conditions.
