Watershed Management Group offers grant funding annually to help schools participate in our Schoolyard Water Conservation Education Program.
Who can apply?
Schoolyard grant funds can be used to create native habitat areas on school campuses that are irrigated with passive water harvesting earthworks (basins, berms, swales, etc) to be used as outdoor learning laboratories. Grant opportunities are open to schools in Tucson and Metro Phoenix.
What is the application process?
Grant Workshop. As part of the application process, at least one school representative is required to attend one of our Schoolyard Grant Workshops. The school representative should be the teacher applying; school administrators and parent volunteers are invited to attend as well. These workshops will cover details about the application and grant funding along with a baseline training in water harvesting and urban wildlife habitat. The 2017 grant workshop dates are yet to be determined.
Event location: WMG Living Lab and Learning Center, 1137 N Dodge Blvd (details). Phoenix workshops possible at a later date.
Funding Amounts. WMG will select 4-6 schools to participate in the program with up to $4,000 in grant funds to cover project costs. Schools will be required to provide a one-to-one match for the grant funding provided.
