Explore and Restore the Santa Cruz River

The Santa Cruz River is a vital part of Tucson's cultural and ecological heritage. At the Irvington Outfalls, you can witness the positive impact of effluent flow from the Tucson Airport Remediation Project (TARP), which releases clean, recycled water into the river, creating a vibrant, year-round stream.

Join Watershed Management Group's River Run Network for a unique opportunity to explore this beautiful stretch of the river while helping to keep it clean and healthy. By removing trash and debris, you'll be protecting the plants and animals that depend on our riparian areas and contributing to the overall health of our watershed.

What to Expect:

  • Learn about the history and ecology of the Santa Cruz River and the importance of effluent flow

  • Help clean up the river and its banks, making a tangible difference in your community

  • Connect with other River Run Network members and discover more about our local waterways

  • Gloves, grabbers, and buckets will be provided

  • Please bring your own reusable water bottle and wear closed-toe shoes, long pants, and sunscreen

  • Light snacks will be provided

  • Note: There are no restrooms or running water on-site

Together, we can create a cleaner, healthier Santa Cruz River for all to enjoy. Sign up and be part of the change!
