WMG is so humbled, excited, and grateful for garnering the SVP Tucson Award ($10,000) at the Nov. 9 Social Venture Partners Tucson Fast Pitch event! The event was the culmination of SVP’s mentorship program that works with nonprofits creating lasting social change in the greater Tucson area.
In August 2017, WMG's Executive Director Lisa Shipek was selected as one of 15 participants in Social Venture Partner’s (SVP) Fast Pitch program. After a competitive grant round, she was chosen to pitch the River Run Network based on WMG's passion for improving the community and our innovative solutions to society’s most difficult challenges. In the three years SVP has been running the program, WMG is the first “environmental” organization selected.
Lisa Shipek joined a stellar line-up of six other incredible nonprofits: The Abbie School, JFCS of Southern Arizona, Literacy Connects, St. Luke's Home Tucson, The Florence Immigrant & Refugee Rights Project, Youth On Their Own.
Receiving the SVP Tucson Award of $10,000 is a wonderful financial gift for WMG, but more importantly, this is an investment in Tucson's community, our future water security, and for the flora and fauna that depend on flowing rivers and streams. Thank you so much SVP for this award! Learn more about the River Run Network, and join us in restoring our rivers, at Watershedmg.org/RRN.
