River Run Network: Pop-Up Creek Walk at the Rillito River and Craycroft Rd
Start your weekend on a Friday sunset creek walk with WMG founders Lisa and Catlow Shipek. During this pop-up event we will be hiking in the creek, as well as exploring the floodplain and land in-between the Tanque Verde and Pantano Creeks. Learn about the history of this beautiful confluence area, the dynamics of a natural floodplain, and how this area can have more regular flow in the future. The Shipek’s have arranged exclusive access to the confluence land with the property owner, a rare treat!
This will be a more physically-demanding creek walk. We will be walking several miles, which may include walking in ankle-deep to knee-deep water, so you will need to be comfortable getting your feet and legs wet and walking in wet sand.
This event is organized through WMG’s River Run Network. If you are not yet a member, we will add you to the Network when you register for this event. RRN membership is free and includes a biweekly email with invitations to creek walks, family education events, river clean-ups, restoration workshops, and advocacy events to help restore our heritage of flowing rivers.
