For Teachers & Schools

Imagine your school campus as a living lab for your students and a green hub for the community

Schoolyard

Energize students by visiting our Living Lab campus and learning about sustainable desert living. Connect with our staff to explore opportunities for creating outdoor classrooms to harvest water, grow food and native habitat, and cool our city.

Take a Field Trip to the Living Lab

Bring your students to our Living Lab and Learning Center for an interactive workshop! Students interact directly with our hydro-local campus, learning about rainwater harvesting, greywater systems, native and edible gardens, and composting toilets. Learn more and schedule the workshop below.

Schoolyard Projects

We partner with schools on designing and constructing rain gardens through hands-on education. We teach students through hands-on activities and using outdoor learning laboratories. One of the central goals is to create and enhance outdoor classrooms on school campuses. If you are interested in partnering with us, contact our Cultural Ecologist Director, Joaquin Murrieta, us to discuss project opportunities.

Consulting Services

Consultation services can be provided to K-12 schools to assist in planning and implementing outdoor classrooms, water-harvesting strategies, and native and edible gardens. Contact our Cultural Ecologist Director, Joaquin Murrieta, to request a school consultation.

Training for Teachers and Maintenance Staff

Build the long-term capacity of your teachers and maintenance staff through WMG training. Attend our Sustainable Desert Living classes or our Water Harvesting Certification course. Sliding scale and scholarships are available.
