Jen hails from Brooklyn, New York, but she first fell in love with the Southwest while working at a summer camp in New Mexico right after completing high school. Before moving to Tucson with her partner Jay in 2004, she had lived in Antwerp, Belgium as well as in Austin and Boston. Jay and Jen have been learning from and supporting WMG for over a decade, and they have implemented water harvesting, laundry-to-landscape greywater, and solar energy at their home. Jen earned her Master’s in linguistics at the University of Texas in 2000, and she has worked in education- and writing-focused roles ever since. Most recently, as a writing specialist at the University of Arizona’s Writing Skills Improvement Program, she tutored and taught undergraduate students, graduate students, and other writers, and she continues to support younger learners with their homework (even math!) as a library program instructor at the Pima County Public Library. When not at work, Jen enjoys cycling, hiking, paddling, and Zumba. Jen is also a self-professed language nerd who speaks French and German well and is working to improve her intermediate Spanish and Ukrainian. She has always been passionate about linguistic, social, and environmental justice, and she is excited to put her values into professional practice at WMG.
