Gain hands-on experience at this arroyo restoration workshop by helping enhance floodplain habitat in order to slow flows, retain sediment, and enhance infiltration to benefit the downstream Babocomari River shallow groundwater riparian ecosystem. You will learn approaches to slowing, spreading, and infiltrating water within arroyo corridors and how these efforts can actually improve water quality and water infiltration to benefit the overall riparian health of the area. You can expect to learn how to build grade control structures including filter dams, one rock dams (ORDs), and how to promote native vegetation recruitment within these treatment areas utilizing brush mulching, geotextile matting, and native seeding strategies.
