We are excited to have you join our Flow365 Monitoring Team, learn about our rivers, and how you can help to reach our 50-year vision of seeing our rivers flow in Tucson again through the data you'll collect. Here are some documents that will help you get a head start in the program: 1. For this program, we ask all volunteers to adopt a site that they will collect data at. We suggest this site be convenient for you to collect data at, either close to your home or work location. There is a map of sites we have that you can see using the link below. Please review this before the training and have an idea of which site you are interested in: https://www.google.com/maps/d/u/1/edit?mid=1AmRflubbfkWzXI3efICZSdlN_utwcxPP&usp=sharing 2. Please read and fill out the commitment form for the Flow365 Monitoring Program, if you are able, bring this with you to the training or email it to Lauren Knight at: lknight@watershedmg.org: https://watershedmg.org/document/flow365-new-monitor-commitment-form 3. We use an app called Survey123 for data collection, you are welcome to download this app before the training using the instructions linked here: https://watershedmg.org/document/flow365-survey123-how-instructions 4. For data collection, the Flow365 Monitoring Program uses a 0-6 scale to numerically describe what is happening at the site in terms of flow. You can see this scale explained in detail using this document: https://watershedmg.org/document/flow365-status-scale-explanation-pdf During the training, you’ll learn how to: -Determine different types of flow you’ll see at your site -Downloading the app to track the flow -Input your data -Choose your monitoring site

Be a Community Scientist—Help Track Flow in Our Creeks and Rivers

WMG is inviting community members from Tucson and the surrounding area to serve as community scientists, gathering essential data on our desert rivers using just a smart phone and an app! At this engaging training, Lauren Knight, WMG’s River Run Network Program Manager, will share our bold 50-year vision for year-round flowing creeks and rivers—and how everyday community scientists like you play a vital role in making it happen. You’ll learn how your observations support WMG’s work and help the City and County protect and restore flows across the basin.

By attending the training, you’ll officially join the Flow365 volunteer program. Volunteers commit to one year of monitoring at a site of their choice, checking in one to four times per month during the dry season and more frequently during rainy periods (about once a week). This data is truly special—no one else is collecting it—and it allows us to track how many days our rivers flow each year and measure real progress toward long-term restoration goals.

This event is organized through WMG’s River Run Network (RRN). The RRN is a program that honors the heritage of our rivers and the value that water holds for the peoples of Southern Arizona. We acknowledge the indigenous communities that have respected and stewarded our rivers for thousands of years and the Pascua Yaqui, Tohono O’odham, and Latino communities that continue to steward the rivers today. Members work together to learn about and steward our rivers through creek walks, restoration activities, river clean-ups, and educational workshops. If you are not yet a member, we will add you to the RRN when you register for this event. Membership is free and includes a regular e-newsletter with upcoming events.
