Meet Dr. Megan Carney, a professor at the University of Arizona who researches water insecurity and a Watershed Management Group partner, donor, and a neighbor to the Living Laboratory.
This looks like neighbors coming together to install a rain garden, students designing and planting shade trees at their schools, volunteers walking a stretch of river and monitoring its health, or creating a space where people can gather, exchange knowledge, question old assumptions, and imagine a different relationship with water. This collective, actionable approach is why Megan values Watershed. In her words, Watershed is "cultivating community and participation in stewardship of the watershed."
While no single one of those actions will secure our region’s water future, together they create the relationships, knowledge, infrastructure, and collective power needed to care for a shared watershed and reinforce that there's a role for each of us in this work.
For Dr. Megan Carney, a professor at the University of Arizona who researches water insecurity and a Watershed Management Group partner, donor, and a neighbor to the Living Laboratory. , one of those roles is giving. She described her donation to WMG as a way to "affirm the importance of this work through a material commitment.”
If you are able, we invite you to make that commitment alongside her and give to our summer fundraising campaign. Your contribution will enable us to continue our work of strengthening community stewardship for our shared water future.
