Gain hands-on experience at this river restoration workshop by helping enhance riparian habitat along the Babocomari River northeast of Sierra Vista. WMG employs low-tech process-based restoration strategies to benefit the river, underlying shallow groundwater aquifer, and surrounding wetland ecosystem. You will learn approaches to slowing, spreading, and infiltrating water within the river corridor and how these efforts can actually improve water quality and water infiltration to benefit the overall riparian health of the area. You can expect to learn about installing post-assisted log structures (PALS), beaver dam analogs (BDAs), and native cottonwood and willow pole plantings.
