River Run Network Creek Walk: Caliente

In the Spring of 2017 with students, staff and parents of the school, a Rain Garden was implemented at Hermosa, it become the Hermosa Monarch Waystation. In 2019 a series of one rock dams where implemented to help on diminishing the speed, spread and infiltrate the storm water. From kindergarteners’ to middle schoolers they came and assist in thes projects. Come and experience with us how schools are collaborating in restoring the flow of Tucson and in this process are creating community resilience to climate change. Listen to representatives of Hermosa Montessori School express their point of view on education and connectivity to water harvesting and river restoration. We will walk along the Caliente Hill Wash to see the connections between the neighborhood and the Agua Caliente Wash. Cultural Ecologist, Joaquin Murrieta and School representatives will walk with you.
