Shannon Road Neighborhood Planting Party

Registration is closed for this event

Get to know local neighbors and play in the dirt as we do the finish work for the rain gardens along Shannon Road (just north of Laguna Elementary.) in the Flowing Wells Neighborhood. Watershed Management Group's Cultural Ecologist, Joaquin Murrieta and Project Designer Nichole Casebeer are excited to lead this community workshop where you'll learn all about native plantings and neighborhood-scale rainwater harvesting. We'll also be available to talk about special events and resources available to Flowing Wells residents interested in creating rain gardens in their own backyard!

The Shannon Road project you'll be working on is helping channel stormwater from the adjacent roadway into rainwater harvesting basins to reduce flooding while creating a shady, beautiful community space for the Flowing Wells Neighborhood. The project is funded through the Federal Community Development Block Grant Program, which is being implemented in partnership with Pima County's Department of Community Development and Neighborhood Conservation.

This is the first of two planting parties at this site, feel free to join us for just one or dig deeper into rain gardens and join us for both!
