Time: Saturday, January 24th, 1-5pm
Site Partner: City of Tucson Ward I Council Office

The Ward I Council Office is pleased to invite you to help implement sustainable practices that will conserve water, reduce energy use, create more green space, and reduce flooding.

We are partnering with Watershed Management Group (WMG) and the Sonoran Institute to implement water harvesting features and native landscaping while providing educational opportunities to the community.

There will be a series of weekend workshops starting this fall and into the winter. Participants will learn how to create a site assessment map, evaluate site characteristics, measure slope, and calculate water available from roof runoff and greywater. We will learn about native plants and implement passive water harvesting earthworks to comply with the new ordinance passed by Mayor and Council October 14, 2008. You can find a link to the new ordinance here: http://www.ci.tucson.az.us/agdocs/20081014/oct14-08-564.pdf

Thanks to the Sonoran Institute for supporting this important work with grant funds from the Environmental Protection Agency and providing organizational support. Their assistance enables Ward I to offer free  workshops to the community. We hope to see you there! Don't forget to RSVP to lisa@watershedmg.org or by phone: 396-3266 if you are interested in attending.
